PM Internship Program 2026: The Ministry of Corporate Affairs has officially launched the application process for the third cycle of the Prime Minister Internship Scheme PMIS 2026. This flagship initiative aims to provide young candidates with hands-on industry experience across a diverse range of sectors. Interested and eligible youth can now register on the official portal before the application window closes at the end of April.

PM Internship Programme
Candidates must meet specific eligibility requirements to apply for the scheme. The programme is designed for youth who are currently not engaged in full-time employment or education.
- Qualification: Candidates must have passed at least Class 10. Those with an ITI, Diploma, or Graduation (e.g., BA, BSc, BCom) are also eligible.
- Age Limit: 18 to 25 years.
- Family Income: The annual family income should be less than ₹12 lakh.
- Employment Status: Candidates must not be engaged in full-time employment or higher education.
- Exclusions:
- Government employees’ families are not eligible
- Graduates of IIT, IIM, or professional courses like CA, CMA are not eligible.
PM Internship Programme Benefits
Candidates are encouraged to apply early, ensure their Aadhaar is linked to their bank account for stipend transfer, and use the “PMIS Buddy” chatbot on the portal for any queries during the application process.
- Financial Support: ₹9,000 monthly stipend + ₹6,000 one-time grant.
- Insurance: Interns are covered under the PMIS insurance scheme.
- Certificate: Upon successful completion, interns receive a joint digital certificate from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and the respective company.
Stipend, Sectors and Opportunities
This year, the government has increased the monthly stipend from ₹6,000 to ₹9,000 to boost participation. The funds are transferred directly to the intern’s bank account via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), with the government contributing ₹8,100 and the company providing ₹900. Additionally, a one-time grant of ₹6,000 is provided to cover miscellaneous expenses.

These opportunities are spread across 32 states and Union Territories, covering 397 districts. The top states with the highest number of internships include Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand.
PM Internship Selection
Candidates are advised to keep their documents ready for a smooth registration process. Successful completion of the internship offers several tangible benefits.
- Application Limit: A candidate can have a maximum of 3 active applications at a time.
- Offer Limit: A candidate can receive a maximum of 2 active offers but can only accept 1.
- Acceptance Window: An internship offer must be accepted within 14 days, or it will lapse.
- Joining: Selected candidates must join by the reporting date mentioned in the offer letter. A 14-day grace period is available, after which the offer is automatically cancelled if the candidate fails to join.
- Dropout Policy: If a candidate drops out of an internship once, they get one more chance. A second dropout results in permanent ineligibility.
